The VTV Cup 2025 will take place from June 28 to July 5 at the Vinh Phuc Indoor Stadium, featuring eight teams divided into two groups: Group A includes Vietnam, the Philippines, Sichuan Club (China), and Australia; Group B features Vietnam U21, Korabelka Club (Russia), Taiwan (China), and U21 Thailand.

Teams will compete in a round-robin format within their groups to determine rankings. In the next round, the top team from Group A faces the fourth-placed team from Group B, and vice versa. The second-placed teams face the third-placed teams across groups. This setup leads to the final stage where the championship contenders are determined.

The tournament champion will receive 12,000 USD, while the runner-up takes home 7,000 USD. Third place is awarded 5,000 USD, and fourth place receives 2,000 USD. Additionally, there are style and encouragement prizes worth 1,000 USD each. Nine individual awards will also be presented, including the “Beauty Queen” title with a 500 USD prize.

The tournament’s quality is bolstered by two home teams, U21 Thailand, and especially the reigning champions Korabelka (Russia). The event serves as a crucial opportunity for the Vietnam national team to prepare for the 2025 World Cup and the 33rd SEA Games, while the U21 squad gains valuable international experience ahead of the 2025 U21 World Championship.

Head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet said: “There won’t be many changes in personnel or playing style from the AVC Nations Cup 2025. However, at the VTV Cup 2025, we’re demanding more technical precision from the players, especially in first-phase ball handling.”

According to Le Tri Truong, Secretary-General of the Vietnam Volleyball Federation, the tournament is an important opportunity for both teams to review and fine-tune their preparation for key goals in 2025. The U21 team, in particular, benefits from exposure to strong opponents, as younger players typically have fewer international competitions compared to the senior team.
