The impact of Typhoon Wipha (Storm No. 3) brought heavy rain and tornadoes across Lam Dong Province, severely damaging homes, greenhouses, and crops, injuring two people and causing estimated losses of over 13.6 billion VND (approximately $535,000 USD).

On July 22, the Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Environment reported that the storm had affected 24 communes and wards throughout the province. Among the damages, three houses were heavily destroyed, 73 others lost their roofs, and strong winds ripped apart numerous greenhouses and net-covered farming structures. In total, 17.2 hectares of net houses, over 2.5 hectares of greenhouses, and 6.17 hectares of various crops were damaged.

In addition, strong winds toppled 18 electric poles, collapsed four welcome gates and signs, and uprooted trees, severely disrupting transportation infrastructure and local life. Authorities also reported major damage to three cars and one motorbike. The province recorded two injuries linked to the storm.

The total damage is estimated at over 13.6 billion VND (about $535,000 USD).

In response, local authorities quickly deployed emergency teams to support affected residents, helping rebuild homes, restore living conditions, and continue assessing the full scope of damage to seek aid from higher-level agencies.

The Lam Dong Department of Agriculture and Environment noted that localities have been instructed to remain proactive in preparing for further complicated weather developments in the storm’s aftermath to minimize future risks.
