A celebration of beauty, intellect, culture, and contribution
Over a six-month journey that spanned from preliminary rounds to the national semifinals, the Miss Vietnam 2024 pageant left a mark with its professionalism, creativity, and humanity. From hundreds of entrants nationwide, 25 finalists were selected to compete in the grand finale.
Miss Vietnam 2024 embraced the pageant’s four core values - beauty, culture, intellect, and dedication - blending them with the cultural depth of Hue to create a unique and prestigious competition.
For nearly two months, the 25 finalists lived in a shared house, dedicating themselves to training in catwalk, group performances, and soft skills, while refining their knowledge in preparation for one of the most memorable finals in the pageant’s history.
They also engaged in social and cultural activities in Hue, including volunteering at Hue Central Hospital by cooking meals for more than 300 patients and their families.
In his opening remarks, Phung Cong Suong, Editor-in-Chief of Tien Phong Newspaper and Head of the Organizing Committee, noted that for the first time in its 37-year history, Miss Vietnam was held by the Huong River in the culturally rich and beautiful city of Hue.
He emphasized: “This six-month journey has taken us across Vietnam and now concludes by the legendary Huong River. This is more than a beauty contest; it is a mission to honor and spread the values of Vietnamese women - beauty of soul, intellect, aspiration, and compassion.”
“A few more hours and we will witness the coronation of Miss Vietnam 2024. This beautiful ending by the river marks a proud new chapter for our new Miss. The crown represents not only brilliance but also a solemn duty to serve and inspire,” said Phung Cong Suong.
A live theatrical stage on the Huong River
Organized by Tien Phong Newspaper and Hoang Thanh Media, with support from the Hue People’s Committee and the Hue Monuments Conservation Center, the finale was both emotional and rich in Hue’s historical essence, blending Vietnamese cultural values with contemporary creativity.
The centerpiece was a live stage built on the river, inspired by a jewel floating on water. It required hundreds of tons of equipment and a 6,000-seat grandstand constructed with high precision and safety standards.
Hoang Tho Ninh, Chairman and CEO of Hoang Thanh Media and Deputy Head of the Organizing Committee, shared: “We aimed to make a lasting impression with a never-before-seen water stage. The main stage was built along the southern bank of the Huong River, opposite Quoc Hoc Hue High School - a symbol of historic architecture. The walkway extended hundreds of meters, featuring wood flooring, LED lighting, and imperial-style patterns.”
First year with reality show format
For the first time, Miss Vietnam included a reality TV component, gathering 41 contestants in a shared residence to face challenges that showcased their beauty and talent to the public. Following various rounds over six months, 25 finalists advanced to the final night.
The finale featured four traditional segments: Ao dai, swimwear, evening gown, and the Q&A round. Each part was artistically staged as a "chapter" in a symbolic "spring garden," told through music, visuals, and the natural water stage setting.
Performers included celebrated artists such as singer Ho Ngoc Ha, People's Artist Trong Phuc, composer Tri Minh, violinist Hoang Rob, and singers Nguyen Tran Trung Quan, Xuan Dinh K.Y, and Satila Hong Vinh.
The core criterion of Miss Vietnam 2024 remained to find a contestant who exemplifies beauty in appearance, intellect, soul, and compassion. Contestants were evaluated not only on stage but also through their interactions, extracurricular activities, and community engagement.
Nguyen Huong Giang, a partner in organizing the performance segments, said: “We told a story from beginning to end to showcase every aspect of the contestants - from their elegance in ao dai, vibrance in swimwear, to their poise in evening gowns, culminating in intellect and confidence in the Q&A round.”
