On the evening of July 20, a representative from the Quang Ninh Department of Construction announced that the province has issued a notice halting operations of tourist boats to Ha Long Bay as a precaution against the effects of the incoming storm.
Accordingly, all permits for boats departing ports and piers to transport tourists around Ha Long Bay and to other islands within Quang Ninh Province have been suspended.
This suspension took effect on July 20.
To ensure the safety of people and vessels, relevant agencies have been instructed to closely monitor weather developments and notify port owners, vessel operators, and captains to proactively take safety measures and avoid complacency.
Currently, local authorities are broadcasting announcements and guiding watercraft to safe anchorages. Citizens are being asked to leave boats and avoid staying aboard during the storm to prevent risks posed by extreme weather conditions.
As of the afternoon of July 20, hundreds of fishing boats had returned to Ha Long fish port to seek shelter. Crews were seen urgently securing and tying vessels together to withstand the high waves.
