Due to the temporary closure of Vinh Airport, passengers with Vietnam Airlines tickets can request free refunds or rebookings, while Vietjet Air offers free itinerary changes or travel credit preservation.

From 12:00 AM on July 1 until 11:59 PM on December 31, Vinh Airport (Nghe An province) will be temporarily closed for repairs. All flights to and from the airport during this period will be suspended.

Vietnam Airlines has announced the suspension of all flights to and from Vinh during this timeframe, following an official decision to close the airport for infrastructure repairs and upgrades.

To maintain connectivity for the North Central region, the airline will increase flight frequencies to nearby airports such as Noi Bai (Hanoi) and Tho Xuan (Thanh Hoa).

According to a Vietnam Airlines representative, passengers who have already purchased tickets may request free rebookings or refunds, depending on their preferences. The airline advises travelers to stay updated through its official channels for the latest flight information.

Similarly, Vietjet Air has stated that for passengers affected by the closure, the airline will offer several support options: free transfers to flights operating the same route before July 1, or rebooking to alternate routes serving Thanh Hoa, Hanoi, or Dong Hoi. Passengers may also choose to preserve the value of their ticket as travel credit in accordance with service policies.

Vietjet also plans to boost frequencies on routes to nearby airports, including Tho Xuan (Thanh Hoa), Noi Bai (Hanoi), and Dong Hoi (Quang Binh), to accommodate passenger travel needs during the airport closure.

Previously, the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam notified the Nghe An Provincial People's Committee and relevant agencies of the airport closure. The upgrade and repair work will span from July 1 to December 31, with an estimated total investment of nearly VND 1,000 billion (approximately USD 39.3 million).
