Vietnam’s women’s volleyball team has advanced to the semifinals of the 2025 AVC Nations Cup after winning all four group-stage matches. Their opponent in the next round will be Kazakhstan.

Vietnam had a slow start in their match against Australia, trailing initially. However, the team quickly regained control thanks to the steady performance of captain Thanh Thuy. From the middle of the first set, Vietnam dominated the game and secured a commanding 25-11 victory.

The second set continued to showcase the superiority of the Vietnamese squad. Despite Australia’s advantage in height, they struggled to keep up with Vietnam’s quick and varied offensive plays. Thanh Thuy and her teammates overwhelmed their opponents, finishing the set 25-14.

In the third set, Australia attempted to stay in the game during the early points, but Bich Tuyen rose to the occasion with consistent scoring that extinguished any hope of a comeback. Vietnam wrapped up the match with a 25-15 win, sealing a 3-0 sweep.

With this result, head coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet and his team completed the group stage undefeated and will now face Kazakhstan in the semifinals.

This matchup is a rematch of last year’s final, where Thanh Thuy and her teammates triumphed 3-0 (25-20, 25-22, 25-22) to win the title at the then-named AVC Challenge Cup.

Vietnam's win over Australia added 3.96 ranking points, bringing their total to 131.19. For the first time, they have climbed to 28th place in the FIVB world rankings.
