Vietnam women’s volleyball team determined to win on home ground.

After approximately one month of training, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet bid farewell to six athletes and finalized the lineup for the upcoming tournament.

As expected, the final squad includes familiar names such as Tran Thi Thanh Thuy, Vi Thi Nhu Quynh, Nguyen Thi Bich Tuyen, Hoang Thi Kieu Trinh, Le Thanh Thuy, Tran Thi Bich Thuy, Lam Oanh, and Khanh Dang.

The players omitted were primarily younger talents like Anh Thao, Tra My, and Dang Hong. This decision is understandable, as the national team is entering a major competition with the aim of winning, thus requiring experienced players to lead the campaign.

At the 2025 AVC Nations Cup, Vietnam is placed in Group A alongside Australia, Chinese Taipei, Hong Kong (China), and India. Group B includes Kazakhstan, the Philippines, Iran, Indonesia, Mongolia, and New Zealand.

Due to the participation of 11 teams, the tournament format has been adjusted, splitting teams into two groups. Each group will conduct a round-robin stage, and the top four teams from each group will progress to the quarterfinals.

Vietnam’s group is considered relatively favorable, as their opponents are not regarded as particularly strong. In recent encounters, Coach Nguyen Tuan Kiet’s team has secured decisive victories against all of these teams.

The toughest challenge for Vietnam is likely to come from Kazakhstan, currently ranked 31st in the world, just one place above Vietnam in the FIVB rankings. Nevertheless, playing on home soil gives the Vietnamese team a significant advantage.

The women's competition of the 2025 AVC Nations Cup will take place at Dong Anh Gymnasium in Hanoi from June 7 to June 14.
