On the afternoon of June 21 in Hanoi, the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs hosted a gathering to celebrate the 100th anniversary of Vietnam Revolutionary Journalism Day (June 21, 1925 - June 21, 2025) and announced organizational changes among its media outlets.

Minister Dao Ngoc Dung and Minister of Science and Technology Nguyen Manh Hung co-chaired the ceremony and signed the handover agreement for VietNamNet.

A mission for diverse and united journalism

Minister Nguyen Manh Hung congratulated journalists and editors on the anniversary, emphasizing that transferring VietNamNet is not merely an administrative procedure but a transfer of values and trust built over decades.

VietNamNet, having emerged as a leading political and technological online newspaper during its nearly two decades under the Ministry of Information and Communications (now Ministry of Science and Technology), has embraced digital transformation, AI, and data journalism. With a strong team and political backbone, the paper consistently reflected national vision across politics, economy, and culture.

Now under the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, VietNamNet enters a new space - one that is deeply rooted in cultural, religious, and ethnic diversity, and equally expansive in its national role of fostering soft power and cultural identity.

Minister Hung emphasized that media today must integrate political insight, technology, and humanity. VietNamNet, with its unique strengths, is poised to lead this approach.

A new vision for VietNamNet: Profound - Pioneering - Technological

Minister Dao Ngoc Dung praised the Ministry’s media outlets for their role in promoting ethnic and religious affairs, national solidarity, and trust in the government. He celebrated the timely transition of VietNamNet, now one of Vietnam’s top five most-read online news platforms, marking its merger with the Ethnic and Development Newspaper.

He outlined three strategic tasks:

First, media must go beyond news delivery to become companions of ethnic and religious communities, bridging policies with real lives. Every article must reflect dedication and empathy.

Second, campaigns must be strategic and impactful, especially ahead of the 14th Party Congress, to build unity and awareness among all Vietnamese citizens.

Third, the recent merger should be viewed as an opportunity for systemic innovation. A unified, streamlined model must replace any notion of division. Merit, competence, and results must guide staffing and governance to maintain transparency, unity, and prestige.

Minister Dung concluded with a reminder: "Transform challenges into motivation, and this merger will be a milestone of growth and solidarity for VietNamNet."
