VietNamNet, now under the Ministry of Ethnic and Religious Affairs, functions as a public service press agency tasked with communicating the Party’s policies and the State’s laws on ethnic and religious affairs. It also covers political, economic, cultural, and social issues domestically and internationally.

The paper aims to serve as a bridge between the Party, the State, ethnic communities, religious organizations, and the public, promoting national unity.

The restructured VietNamNet will include VietNamNet Online, the Ethnic and Development section on its website, the printed Ethnic and Development Newspaper, and a monthly Ethnic and Development publication.

The new organizational structure will consist of 16 sub-units, down from 25, marking a 33.3% reduction. The merged entity will employ a total of 246 staff.
