A severe landslide triggered by heavy rains in Dakrong District, Quang Tri Province, has caused the partial collapse of a newly built home and swept a car into a stream.

According to the La Lay International Border Guard Station under Quang Tri Border Defense Force, the incident occurred around 6:00 p.m. on June 12 in Cu Tai 2 village, A Bung commune. The landslide was the result of swollen stream banks caused by prolonged downpours linked to Storm No. 1.
The house, owned by Vo Van Cuong (52), had recently been constructed and included a reinforced embankment along the stream. However, the embankment was washed away by the forceful current, causing the rear wall to collapse. Fortunately, no injuries were reported.
Authorities also reported that the same weather conditions swept a 4-seater car into the stream near A Rong Tren spillway bridge. Another truck was at risk of being dragged away but was rescued in time.

The La Lay Border Guard Station immediately deployed 10 officers to the scene to coordinate with local forces in securing the area, protecting property, and minimizing losses.
Additionally, border guards and local officials from A Bung commune have urged residents in vulnerable areas to evacuate to the A Bung Commune People's Committee office to ensure safety.
As of 4:30 p.m. the same day, a total of 14,297 hectares of rice across the districts of Cam Lo, Hai Lang, Gio Linh, Trieu Phong, Quang Tri Town, and Dong Ha City had been flooded. More than 500 hectares of other crops were also inundated.
