Leaders of Hanoi Metro Co., Ltd. confirmed that a power system failure necessitated the temporary suspension of metro services at Le Duc Tho, Vietnam National University, Chua Ha, and Cau Giay stations.
“The Urban Railway Operation Division of Line 3 activated technical protocols and coordinated with warranty contractor CP6 (ALSTOM) to inspect and fix the issue,” a Hanoi Metro representative stated. “We reported the incident to the company's leadership, the Hanoi Urban Transport Management and Operation Center (TRAMOC), and other relevant authorities for coordinated response.”
Upon the disruption, trains were halted at the nearest stations, and announcements were made over the PA system to inform and reassure passengers. Train drivers and station staff worked in tandem to keep commuters calm and informed during the service interruption.
Passengers who had already purchased tickets but chose not to continue their journey were refunded in accordance with company policy.
By 3:22 PM, the power issue had been resolved, and electricity was restored from Le Duc Tho to Cau Giay Station. Train operations resumed normal service shortly thereafter.
The entire response followed established procedures and was part of a pre-approved set of 57 emergency handling scenarios. Throughout the incident, passenger safety was prioritized, and customer service teams were deployed to assist travelers and process refunds.
Hanoi Metro is currently working with the warranty contractor to assess the root cause of the outage and implement measures to prevent future occurrences.
