Vietnam is joining the world’s efforts to formulate a legally binding treaty about plastic pollution, which has become a big menace for the country’s national development.
A workshop has been held in Hanoi, aiming to share results and experiences in reducing the use of plastic bags at supermarkets and retailers.

Households on the island have been also provided with environmentally friendly bags to reduce the use of plastic.
Consumers in VN are reluctant to use eco-friendly products made from natural materials as they are more expensive than plastic products, according to economic experts.
The way we design, produce, transform, use and dispose of plastic needs rethinking due to the vast release of the plastic waste into the ocean, and innovative circular economy approaches could be one way to go, experts have said.
