The Provincial Command for Natural Disaster Prevention, Search and Rescue, and Civil Defense of Nghe An recently reported damage caused by the ongoing heavy rains and storms. So far, storms and strong winds have severely impacted several localities, resulting in one death and four injuries due to trees collapsing.

The fatal victim was Vuong Thanh L. (born 1966), a resident of Vinh Loc Ward, Nghe An. At approximately 7:00 p.m. on July 19, Mr. L. was near a flamboyant tree as he was bringing his cow back into the stable when strong winds and heavy rain broke off a large branch, which fell and struck him. He died from his injuries.

Additionally, severe weather across Nghe An brought down many trees, injuring four people - including two children. The injured children, Nguyen Tan D. and Nguyen Thai K. (both born in 2012 and residents of Nghia Hung Commune), were walking through Tan Thinh Hamlet in Nghia Hung when a roadside tree collapsed and struck them.

According to the same provincial command, a total of 357 houses in Nghe An have been affected by the torrential rain to date.

To proactively respond to the storm, the Nghe An People’s Committee has issued directives urging localities to assess and implement urgent preventive measures.

Authorities have been instructed to immediately inspect areas at high risk of landslides, flash floods, and deep inundation, and to prepare evacuation plans for at-risk communities. On-site forces have been mobilized to assist residents in clearing fallen trees, making temporary home repairs, and restoring local production activities.
