On May 19, the Criminal Investigation Agency of the Ho Chi Minh City Police Department urgently apprehended Tran Gia Huy (29, from Ninh Thuan) for disturbing public order.

Huy was identified as one of the individuals involved in a group assault on a foreign tourist at Bui Vien pedestrian street, District 1, as shown in a widely circulated video on social media.

Authorities are currently clarifying the roles of other individuals involved to proceed with legal action.

According to the investigation, at around 8:10 p.m. on May 17, A.K.N. (38, South African nationality) entered a bar named N.L. on Bui Vien Street, Pham Ngu Lao Ward, District 1. A conflict arose between him and a staff member, D.H. (27, from Soc Trang).

The bar owner, F.J. (29, German nationality), intervened, leading to a verbal argument and then a physical altercation with A.K.N.

Seeing the fight, D.H., N.N.C. (19, from Ninh Thuan), and Tran Gia Huy joined in the group assault on A.K.N., during which Huy struck the tourist on the head with a beer bottle.

Local police quickly arrived at the scene and brought all involved parties to the station for further investigation.
