According to Box Office Vietnam, the film earned VND 17.6 billion (approximately USD 690,000) over the weekend, bringing its total revenue in Vietnam to VND 20.8 billion (around USD 815,000), including early screenings and pre-sales.

From Oscar-nominated and Golden Globe-winning filmmaker Dean DeBlois, the creator of the original animated franchise, this live-action version has quickly captured the hearts of Vietnamese audiences. One key reason for its success is the strong performance by the cast and the film’s faithful adaptation of the beloved animation.

Comicbook praised the film as “a vibrant testament to the potential of live-action adaptations,” managing to retain everything fans loved about the original while offering subtle enhancements for newcomers to the dragon-filled universe.

Meanwhile, the Korean superhero action-comedy The 5 Superlatives, featuring a star-studded cast including Yoo Ah In, Ahn Jae Hong, Park Jin Young, and Ra Mi Ran, debuted in second place with a modest VND 7.4 billion (USD 290,000).

Doraemon Movie 44: Nobita and the Journey into the Art World experienced a sharp decline in ticket sales, falling to third place with VND 6.3 billion (USD 247,000) from nearly 141,000 tickets sold. However, it has already crossed the VND 154 billion (USD 6 million) mark in Vietnam.

The R-rated horror film Duoi Day Ho, after leading the box office the previous week, dropped to fourth with just VND 3.4 billion (USD 133,000) over the weekend. Its total now stands at VND 25 billion (USD 980,000) after 10 days in theaters.

Tom Cruise’s Mission: Impossible - Dead Reckoning Part One came in fifth, adding VND 2.6 billion (USD 102,000) over the weekend and bringing its total to VND 42 billion (USD 1.64 million) in Vietnam.

This weekend, Vietnamese cinemas will welcome the local animated film Trang Quynh Nhi: Legend of the Golden Buffalo, along with two new horror releases: Ut Lan: The Vengeful Spirit and 28 Years After the Apocalypse.
