Tom Cruise’s massive 10,000 billion VND ($400 million USD) action blockbuster Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning failed to surpass the family-friendly appeal of Doraemon: Nobita and the Journey into the World of Art at Vietnam’s weekend box office.
Meanwhile, the Vietnamese animated feature Cricket: The Adventure to the Muddy Hamlet also made a promising debut after launching on the same day.

In its second week, Doraemon: Nobita and the Journey into the World of Art topped Vietnam’s box office, buoyed by International Children’s Day on June 1 and the beginning of summer vacation for students nationwide.
According to Box Office Vietnam on the morning of June 2, the 44th installment of the beloved Doraemon series sold 355,482 tickets and earned 34.2 billion VND ($1.35 million USD) over the weekend across 8,355 screenings. Its 10-day gross in Vietnam has now climbed to 123 billion VND ($4.86 million USD).

Despite strong international performance and favorable reviews, Mission: Impossible – The Final Reckoning earned only 20 billion VND ($790,000 USD) in Vietnam during its opening weekend.
The film has made $353 million globally after 10 days in theaters, still trailing its enormous $400 million production budget - not including marketing expenses.
Disney’s animated Lilo & Stitch came in third with a weekend total of 9.3 billion VND ($368,000 USD), bringing its 10-day Vietnamese box office tally to 19.4 billion VND ($768,000 USD).
The Vietnamese animated film Cricket: The Adventure to the Muddy Hamlet also premiered this past weekend. Despite competition from global animation brands and Cruise’s action epic, it posted a solid performance with 6.2 billion VND ($246,000 USD) in box office receipts.
Its success was aided by strategic timing and its deep familiarity among Vietnamese audiences, thanks to its roots in beloved national literature.
