This year, DANAFF introduces a new segment, the Panorama of Asian Cinema, which joins the Asian Competition category in showcasing diverse cinematic voices. The festival has become an increasingly trusted platform, with many international filmmakers choosing DANAFF III as the venue for their world and international premieres.

The third edition of the Da Nang Asian Film Festival, organized by the Da Nang People's Committee and the Vietnam Association for the Promotion and Development of Cinema, will be held from June 29 to July 5, 2025. The fact that many films are making their international debuts at the festival confirms its growing reputation.

Among the entries in the Asian Competition category is "Family Secrets," featuring acclaimed actress Kim Hye-eun, known for her roles in “Itaewon Class” and “Twenty-Five, Twenty-One.” Also competing is “How to Forget You” by Japanese director Yu Sakudo, a Venice Film Festival award-winner. Other notable films include Mongolia’s "The Father" and the Philippines’ “Out of Order,” both premiering internationally at DANAFF III.

In the Panorama segment, two Korean films - “My Friend is a Murderer” and “Extreme Family” - will have their world premieres. These entertaining features star popular actors including Ilhwa Lee (“Reply 1988”) and Ji Seung Hyun. Ji Seung Hyun will personally attend the screening of “My Friend is a Murderer” and meet with fans at the event.

Several other international features will offer unique cultural and emotional perspectives, such as “Lotus Kitchen,” “Mommy,” “Souzoku,” and “Niihama Hikari Story: The Blue Lion” from Japan, highlighting themes from family life to culinary traditions.

Another anticipated premiere is “Love in Vietnam,” a Vietnamese-Indian collaboration starring Kha Ngan. The romantic drama not only explores love but also celebrates the natural beauty and cultural charm of Vietnam. Following its introduction at the 2024 Cannes Film Festival, it will have its official Vietnamese debut at DANAFF III.

Seen through the lens of an international production crew, “Love in Vietnam” captures various regions of Vietnam, especially Da Lat - Lam Dong, in a modern, emotional cinematic style. The film is expected to open doors to future partnerships and boost Vietnam’s film-linked tourism industry.

Organizers confirmed that Park Kwang Su, Chairman of the Busan International Film Festival and a veteran of Korean cinema, will return to Da Nang as a special guest. Park will share his insights and experiences with audiences this year. His landmark 1990 film “Black Republic,” known for its minimalist style and social depth, will be screened in the Korean Cinema Spotlight section.

This year, DANAFF III expands with a seven-day schedule instead of five, showcasing more than 100 films across 200 screenings. Screenings will take place at Le Do, CGV, Galaxy, and Lotte cinemas in Da Nang starting June 24. Audiences will also have the opportunity to interact with famous actors and directors during the event.
