According to the Yen Bai Meteorological and Hydrological Station, in the 24 hours between 7 a.m. on June 24 and 7 a.m. on June 25, the districts of Yen Binh, Van Yen, Luc Yen, Tran Yen, Van Chan, and Yen Bai City experienced moderate to heavy rainfall, with some areas recording extremely heavy downpours.
In Yen Bai City, flooding occurred in multiple locations including the intersection at kilometer 4 near the beginning of Quang Trung Street, as well as Kim Dong, Le Van Tam, Ngo Gia Tu streets, and the streamside road in Group 12, Yen Ninh Ward. Particularly on Le Van Tam Street in Dong Tam Ward, floodwaters reached depths of more than one meter, significantly impacting residents’ daily lives.
Persistent heavy rainfall has also triggered landslides in various areas, notably along National Highway 70, especially in the districts of Yen Binh, Luc Yen, and Van Yen.
Authorities are especially concerned as these weather conditions coincide with preparations for the 2025 national high school graduation exam. A provincial construction department official confirmed that landslide sites along National Highway 70 in Luc Yen district are being urgently cleared to restore traffic safety. Emergency vehicles have also been arranged to transport students through areas at risk of severe flooding.
