After much speculation, Hanoi Police FC successfully secured the signature of 19-year-old midfielder Brandon Ly from Premier League side Burnley. The terms of the agreement were not disclosed by either party.

Brandon Ly, whose father is Vietnamese and mother is Irish, is considered one of the brightest young talents of Vietnamese descent. He began his career in the youth academy of Sheffield United before moving to Burnley in 2023.

According to Transfermarkt, Ly stands at 1.75 meters tall and plays primarily as a defensive midfielder. However, he is also capable of playing central midfield and right back when needed.

During the last season, he was a regular starter for Burnley's U21 squad, featuring in 32 matches in the Professional Development League, the second tier of youth football in England. In the Premier League Cup, he appeared in seven games, scoring one goal and providing two assists.

Though he has yet to break into Burnley’s senior squad, Ly has been recognized for his potential. His move to Vietnam is seen as a significant boost for both CAHN and Vietnamese football, as he is expected to showcase a higher level of skill and maturity on home soil.

Brandon Ly currently does not hold Vietnamese citizenship, but he has expressed a strong desire to represent the Vietnamese national team in the future. This aspiration played a major role in his decision to leave the English football system and join Hanoi Police FC.

He becomes the second overseas Vietnamese player to join CAHN during this transfer window. Earlier, center-back Adou Minh also transferred to the club from Hong Linh Ha Tinh.
