This afternoon, General Phan Van Giang, Minister of National Defense, and Bui Thi Minh Hoai, Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee, jointly chaired a ceremony to hand over the command responsibilities of the Hanoi Capital Command.

On behalf of the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, General Phan Van Giang congratulated Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Duyet and Major General Dao Van Nhan on their new appointments.

The minister emphasized that the appointments reflect the trust and confidence placed in the two officers by the Hanoi Party Committee, People’s Council, and People’s Committee, as well as by the Central Military Commission and the Ministry of National Defense, affirming their leadership roles in the Standing Committee, Party Committee, and the Hanoi Capital Command.

General Phan Van Giang instructed the Party Committee of the Hanoi Capital Command to focus on enhancing overall quality, combat strength, and readiness of the armed forces in the capital. He also stressed the importance of maintaining strict combat readiness, coordinating closely with other forces to ensure political security, and protecting key political targets and events held in the city.

Secretary of the Hanoi Party Committee Bui Thi Minh Hoai noted that Lieutenant General Nguyen Quoc Duyet has been serving in the Hanoi Capital Command since September 2019, totaling nearly six years.

As the highest-ranking officer of the capital’s armed forces, Lieutenant General Duyet has consistently maintained close engagement with departments and units, managed tasks quickly and effectively, and has successfully fulfilled all assigned responsibilities.

Regarding the appointment of Major General Dao Van Nhan as Commander of the Hanoi Capital Command, Secretary Bui Thi Minh Hoai expressed strong confidence in the Party Committee's leadership team and its ability to accomplish all future missions.

The Hanoi Capital Command is a unit under the Ministry of National Defense and operates under the command and management of the Minister of National Defense. Its primary function is to advise the city’s Party leadership and government on matters related to national defense and local military affairs.

It also assists the Minister of National Defense and the Chairman of the Hanoi People’s Committee in managing military and defense activities in the area, including the organization, command, and oversight of regular, reserve, and militia forces.
