On the afternoon of July 20, officials in Binh Hung Hoa Ward (formerly part of Binh Tan District) confirmed that a search was underway for a crocodile spotted in the Nuoc Den Canal, near the intersection with Ap Chien Luoc Street.
Residents living along the canal say the crocodile has been present for around two weeks. It is reportedly about the size of an adult's calf and is often seen sunbathing on a small islet in the middle of the canal during the day.

Locals noted that the animal appears to be accustomed to humans, regularly exposing itself to sunlight. However, after curious children approached it in an attempt to catch it, the crocodile became more cautious and has since appeared less frequently.
Authorities have met with residents who witnessed the reptile and collected photographs and location data to support the ongoing search.
In the meantime, local officials are urging the public not to gather near or approach the canal area while the search and capture operation is in progress, to ensure everyone’s safety.
