At 10 PM on April 26, authorities confirmed that the number of fatalities in the serious bus rollover accident in Tam Dao District, Vinh Phuc Province, had risen to four, while the remaining victims are receiving medical treatment.

According to Le Van Tinh, Director of Vinh Phuc General Hospital, despite intensive care and support from a central-level hospital, male patient M.V.T. (47 years old) succumbed to his injuries.

Earlier, three victims were identified as deceased: N.V.M.N. (3 years old), M.P.T. (9 years old), and P.H.T. (41 years old). All victims were residents of Hai Duong Province.

The accident occurred at approximately 9:15 AM on April 26 at kilometer 19 of National Highway 2B, within Ho Son Commune, Tam Dao District. At that time, driver Nguyen Van T. (41 years old) was operating a 35-seat passenger bus with license plate 29F-059.XX, descending from Tam Dao Town when the vehicle suddenly lost its brakes and overturned.

The bus rolled over into the lower embankment, damaging the windshield, multiple windows, and about 20 meters of the roadside guardrail. Rescue forces quickly arrived at the scene to assist victims and investigate the cause.

Regarding the vehicle’s registration status, authorities confirmed that the bus owner, N.V.C. from Soc Son District, Hanoi, had completed the most recent inspection on February 20, 2025, at Inspection Center 34-05D. The inspection certificate was valid until August 19, 2025, meaning the vehicle was still within its registration period at the time of the crash.

By 11 AM on the same day, Nguyen Minh Tuan, Chief of Office of Tam Dao District, reported that the bus was carrying 17 people when the accident happened. Among them, three victims were initially confirmed dead at the scene, and 14 others suffered various injuries and were hospitalized for treatment.

Earlier, Nguyen Duy Dung, Chairman of the People’s Committee of Tam Dao Town, was present at the scene and directed rescue operations.

Dung stated, “Rescue teams were deployed immediately. Many passengers were rushed to hospitals in a state of panic.”

The accident site is located along the mountainous road between Tam Dao Town and Ho Son Commune - a winding and steep section frequently traveled by tourists. According to preliminary investigations, the cause of the accident was the vehicle’s sudden brake failure while descending the mountain.

Currently, Vinh Phuc provincial authorities are continuing to investigate the cause and are supporting the victims’ families. Efforts are underway to resolve the aftermath of the tragic accident.
