A gas leak in the kitchen of Thuy Thanh Kindergarten in Thai Thuy district, Thai Binh province, triggered a small fire on the morning of April 21, prompting the evacuation of more than 200 children and staff to ensure their safety.

Speaking with VietNamNet in the afternoon, leaders of the People’s Committee of Thuy Thanh commune confirmed the incident, noting that the fire broke out in the school’s kitchen area around 8:30 AM.

Upon receiving the emergency call, local firefighting and rescue teams quickly arrived at the scene and worked to contain the blaze, preventing it from spreading to other areas.

After approximately 30 minutes, the fire was fully extinguished. Some kitchen equipment was damaged, with estimated property loss at around VND 15 million (approximately USD 600). Fortunately, no injuries were reported.

“It was a minor fire caused by a gas leak - not a major blaze as some social media posts claimed. Firefighters acted swiftly and extinguished the fire within 30 minutes. At the time of the incident, more than 200 students were safely evacuated by teachers,” said a local official from Thuy Thanh commune.
