Hàng chục công nhân đi cấp cứu nghi do ngạt khí, 1 người tử vong

The incident occurred at around 9:45 a.m. on April 12 in the IZO chemical pumping area. At the time, driver N.X.T., contracted to supply chemicals to the company, was transferring sodium hydrosulfide (NaHS) from a tanker truck into the company’s storage tank.

Two employees - T.V.D., deputy team leader of the mechanical maintenance department, and D.T.S., a production staff member - were found unconscious by nearby workers. They were immediately pulled from the area and given first aid before being transported to a private clinic in Phu My City.

Unfortunately, T.V.D. was declared dead. D.T.S. remained conscious and was transferred to Ba Ria Hospital for further monitoring.

Following the incident, the chemical truck driver shut down the pump, while the plant’s control room (DCS) sealed all inlet and outlet valves of the chemical tank to isolate the area.

In addition to the two affected workers, 39 others - including 25 company staff, 13 subcontractor employees, and 1 supplier representative - were also taken to the hospital for health evaluations. All were discharged later that afternoon.

The company has covered initial expenses for the deceased worker’s family and stated that all additional compensation will be provided in accordance with regulations, once authorities complete their investigation.

The incident is currently under investigation by the Ba Ria - Vung Tau Provincial Police in coordination with relevant agencies.
