Seeing his friend fall into a deep water hole, little Nam Phong (nearly 3 years old, from Nghe An province) panicked and ran inside to call for help. Everyone rushed outside and discovered a young boy had indeed fallen into the hole. He was quickly pulled to safety.

A clip recently shared on social media, just over a minute long, captured a young boy speaking unclearly and frantically running into the house, shouting, “Mom! Help! Help!” after witnessing his friend fall into a water hole. Since being posted, the video has garnered nearly one million likes and over 900 comments. Viewers praised the boy for his intelligence and quick thinking.

The incident took place in Quyet Thang Hamlet, Nghi Dien Commune, Nghi Loc District, Nghe An Province. The boy in the video is Nguyen Nam Phong, who is nearly 3 years old.

Speaking with VietNamNet, Nguyen Van Thanh (born 1984), Nam Phong’s adoptive father, shared that around 1:00 PM on April 5, a family friend came to visit with their 5-year-old son.

While the adults were chatting in the front yard, Nam Phong suddenly ran from the garden into the house in a panic, calling for help.

“Next to my house, a neighbor is digging a foundation to build a new house, and there's a rather deep water hole. When Nam Phong cried out, my wife and our friend initially didn’t understand because his speech isn’t fully developed. After a few seconds of clarity, they suspected that the friend’s son had fallen into the hole, so they rushed out into the garden to look. Thankfully, they managed to pull the boy out safely,” Thanh said.

Another camera angle from a nearby home shows Nam Phong trying to pull his friend up from the water before rushing to get help.

It’s known that Nam Phong was abandoned at the gate of Mr. Thanh’s home nearly three years ago. A letter had been left with him, pleading for someone to raise the child. “I already have four biological children, but my heart went out to this abandoned baby, so I decided to adopt him and named him Nam Phong. Since birth, he’s lacked the warmth of a family, so my wife and I have loved and cared for him as one of our own,” Thanh explained.

Thanh described Nam Phong as a bright and perceptive child. “When I watched the security footage, I was amazed by what he did. Even though he’s still very young, it’s thanks to him that another child was saved from drowning. I feel so proud and grateful to be Nam Phong’s adoptive father,” he added.
