
Professor Hoang Xuan Phu, a senior researcher at the Institute of Mathematics under the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology, has been officially elected as a member of the European Academy of Sciences (EURASC), marking another international recognition of his distinguished scientific contributions.
In a letter addressed to Professor Phu, Professor Rodrigo Martins, President of the European Academy of Sciences, stated: “This election was approved by the Council of the European Academy of Sciences following a rigorous evaluation process, reflecting the highest recognition of your outstanding scientific contributions and international standing.”
Professor Phu's main research areas include optimization, optimal control, numerical analysis, and scientific computing. Throughout his career, he has held numerous important scientific roles. He served as the Asian representative on the Developing Countries Committee of the International Mathematical Union from 2011 to 2014, and he has been a member of the editorial boards of six prestigious international mathematics journals.
From 2011 to 2022, he was Editor-in-Chief of the Vietnam Journal of Mathematics and currently holds the title of Honorary Editor-in-Chief.
He has also chaired seven international conferences on high-performance computing (held in 2000, 2003, 2006, 2009, 2012, 2015, and 2018), and 23 annual workshops on optimization and scientific computing since 2003.
