The five-member Vietnamese team was selected by the Vietnam Physical Society from top-performing students in the 2024–2025 National Excellent Student Contest.

Associate Professor Nguyen Cao Khang, lecturer at Hanoi National University of Education and head of the Vietnamese delegation, shared with VietNamNet on June 17 that four out of five team members earned medals.

Gold medals went to Nguyen Tran Hieu (Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted, Bac Ninh Province) and Nguyen Le Dang Khoa (High School for the Gifted under Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City).

The silver medal was awarded to Tran Nguyen Khai (Phan Boi Chau High School for the Gifted, Nghe An Province), while Cap Kim Hoang Bao (Le Quy Don High School for the Gifted, Da Nang) earned a bronze medal. Ha Tuan Kiet (Bac Ninh High School for the Gifted) received an honorary certificate.

According to Dr. Khang, this is Vietnam’s best performance in seven appearances at the competition. In previous years, Vietnam had won a total of three gold medals. With this year’s achievement, the total now stands at five.

In 2024, Vietnam’s team earned one silver and three bronze medals at the event.

EuPhO 2025 was held in Bulgaria from June 13 to 17, attracting over 200 students from 29 countries and territories.

The European Physics Olympiad is a prestigious annual continental physics competition for high school students across Europe and invited guest countries, including Vietnam. Each country sends five students to participate in two rounds: a five-hour theoretical exam and a five-hour experimental exam.
