On the night of May 25, the Vietnam Railways Corporation welcomed a group of travelers who completed immigration procedures at Dong Dang Station in Lang Son Province upon entering Vietnam via the international rail service.

By 5 a.m. on May 26, the train reached Gia Lam Station in Hanoi.

Leaders from the Vietnam Railways Corporation stated that the resumption of the international passenger rail service between Vietnam and China is intended to strengthen economic cooperation, enhance the use of rail infrastructure, and expand opportunities to attract international tourists traveling by train.

This move is expected to contribute to boosting bilateral trade, promoting tourism, and fostering cultural and people-to-people exchanges. It also offers a safer, more convenient, economical, and environmentally friendly transportation option for citizens of both Vietnam and China.
The Vietnam Railways Corporation’s CEO, Hoang Gia Khanh, personally welcomed the first international train passenger arriving in Vietnam.

With the resumption of this route, two international trains, numbered MR1 and MR2, will operate daily between Gia Lam Station (Hanoi) and Nanning Station (China).

Train MR1 departs from Gia Lam at 9:20 p.m. and arrives in Nanning at 10:06 a.m. the following day.

In the reverse direction, train MR2 leaves Nanning at 6:05 p.m. and arrives at Gia Lam at 5:30 a.m. the next morning.

Passengers complete immigration procedures at Dong Dang Station in Lang Son, Vietnam, and at Pingxiang Station in Guangxi, China.

Starting May 27, the railways of both countries will operate a direct train service between Gia Lam Station (Hanoi) and Beijing (China). The train will depart from Gia Lam at 9:20 p.m. every Tuesday and Friday and arrive at Beijing West Station on Thursdays and Sundays.

Passengers can also purchase rail tickets to travel onward to third countries at international rail stations within China.
