President Luong Cuong praised the new president's strong interest in Asia and emphasized that the early phone call reflects the high importance South Korea places on its relationship with Vietnam.

President Luong Cuong expressed his delight at the significant achievements in bilateral relations since the two nations established diplomatic ties more than 30 years ago - especially since elevating relations to a Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. He reaffirmed Vietnam’s consistent policy of valuing ties with South Korea and expressed his wish to work with President Lee to deepen bilateral relations in a more substantive, effective, comprehensive, and sustainable manner.

President Lee emphasized that the South Korean government regards Vietnam as a key regional partner and is committed to deepening bilateral cooperation.

He commended Vietnam’s impressive development achievements and expressed his desire to work together for the shared prosperity of both nations. He also called on Vietnam to continue creating favorable conditions for South Korean enterprises to invest and expand operations in the country.

The two leaders agreed on key directions to further deepen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership. These include maintaining high-level exchanges, expanding cooperation in defense, security, and transnational crime prevention, and closely coordinating in economic, trade, and investment activities to address global challenges.

They also agreed to make science and technology, innovation, and especially high-tech industries, a central pillar of their bilateral cooperation.

Vietnam and South Korea will strengthen mutual support in regional and international forums. This includes coordination for the successful organization of the APEC Summit in South Korea in 2025, the APEC Summit in Vietnam in 2027, and their joint chairmanship of the Mekong-Korea Cooperation mechanism.
