On February 13, during a regular press conference, Vietnam’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs addressed questions regarding reports that Vietnam had expressed willingness to host diplomatic efforts for conflict resolution.
These reports stem from a brief meeting between Vietnamese Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky at the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland, in January.
During the conversation, Prime Minister Chinh reiterated Vietnam’s support for international mediation efforts to find a peaceful resolution to conflicts, in accordance with international law and the United Nations Charter.

Speaking at the press conference, Foreign Ministry spokesperson Pham Thu Hang reaffirmed this stance, stating:
“Vietnam supports international efforts to mediate conflicts and seek long-term peaceful solutions that involve all relevant parties, in line with international law and the UN Charter.”
She further emphasized: “We are also ready to participate in global initiatives that promote dialogue and work toward a peaceful resolution to current conflicts.”
Vietnam’s history of diplomatic engagement
Vietnam has previously played an important role in international diplomacy, having hosted the second U.S.-North Korea summit in Hanoi in 2019.
The country has consistently upheld a foreign policy of peace, cooperation, and neutrality, positioning itself as a constructive and responsible member of the international community.
As tensions continue in various regions, Vietnam remains open to providing a venue and facilitating diplomatic discussions that contribute to global stability.
