With 6 points after two wins, Vietnam only needed a draw against Guam to qualify for the tournament. However, head coach Mai Duc Chung aimed higher, fielding his strongest lineup and urging the team to press from the start.

Just two minutes into the match, Vietnam opened the scoring. Huynh Nhu delivered a dangerous cross that forced Guam’s goalkeeper into a misstep. The ball spilled into the path of Nguyen Thi Van, who easily tapped it into the empty net.

A little over 10 minutes later, Guam’s defense faltered again, passing the ball straight to Bich Thuy inside the box. The Vietnamese forward made no mistake, doubling the score to 2-0.

Before halftime, Bich Thuy struck again from close range, completing her brace and giving Vietnam a 3-0 lead going into the break.

In the second half, while Vietnam maintained control, their finishing lacked precision. Still, Hai Yen found the net in the 72nd minute to seal the 4-0 victory.

With three wins from three matches and a flawless 9-point total, coach Mai Duc Chung’s squad confidently booked their place in the 2026 AFC Women’s Asian Cup finals. The campaign marks a significant step forward in Vietnam’s ambition to elevate its status in Asian women’s football.
