Professors Tran Thanh Van and Le Kim Ngoc have been promoted from Knight to Officer in the prestigious Legion of Honour by the President of the French Republic.

On behalf of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Deputy Minister Le Thi Thu Hang recently extended her congratulations to the two professors.

“This distinguished promotion is not only a well-deserved recognition of the professors’ tireless and enduring contributions to science and youth development, but also a source of pride for the Vietnamese diaspora and the homeland,” she shared.

According to Deputy Minister Hang, over the past decades, both professors have firmly established their reputations in the international scientific community while remaining deeply committed to advancing science and education in Vietnam. Their initiatives include organizing international scientific conferences, founding the International Centre for Interdisciplinary Science and Education (ICISE), and launching numerous educational support programs for disadvantaged students and children.

“Anyone who has attended the Odon Vallet scholarship award ceremonies organized by the professors has been moved by their generosity and heartfelt dedication to the younger generation – the future of our nation. The opportunities created by the scholarship fund have inspired thousands of students across the country,” said Hang.

Deputy Minister Hang added that the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will continue to work alongside other ministries, agencies, and localities to support the professors’ journey toward an ever-growing and globally integrated Vietnamese scientific and educational landscape. This aligns with the nation’s broader aspiration for progress and development.

She also expressed her hope that the two professors will continue to achieve new milestones and make even greater contributions to the international scientific community, to Vietnam, and to the enduring friendship between Vietnam and France.
