On the evening of April 28, thousands flocked to Bach Dang Wharf Park to witness the rehearsal of the drone show featuring 10,500 drones, celebrating the 50th anniversary of Vietnam’s reunification.
Nguyen Hue walking street was packed with people strolling and eagerly waiting for the highlight of the “Colors of President Ho Chi Minh’s City” series of events.
Bach Dang Wharf was completely filled with spectators. This prime location offered the perfect view of the largest drone performance ever staged. Event organizers have submitted documents to propose recognition for a Guinness World Record for the highest number of drones performing simultaneously.
At exactly 8:30 PM, the sky above Ho Chi Minh City lit up brilliantly as 10,500 drones took flight. The crowd watched in awe, capturing the breathtaking images on their phones.
The dazzling display recreated significant moments in Vietnam’s history, such as tanks crashing through the gates of the Independence Palace and the liberation flag flying atop its roof.
A vivid portrait of President Ho Chi Minh - the embodiment of independence, national spirit, patriotism, and unyielding will - also illuminated the night sky.
The drones formed images of a modern Ho Chi Minh City, highlighting landmarks like Ben Thanh Market, the Opera House, the metro system, and other contemporary architectural marvels.
The approximately 10-minute drone show offered a unique and emotional experience, blending cutting-edge technology with stage artistry to deliver an unforgettable visual feast.
Minh and Nga, both 24 years old, traveled from Binh Duong to Ho Chi Minh City just to watch the drone rehearsal. Although the flight was somewhat short, they felt thoroughly impressed and looked forward to the official performance on May 1.
Additionally, on the evening of April 30, Ho Chi Minh City will host fireworks displays at 30 locations - the most ever - including two high-altitude sites and 28 low-altitude ones across various districts and Thu Duc City.
