The incident that occurred at the Song Doc oil field, located offshore in the southwest of Vietnam, has been brought under control and has not caused any environmental impact, according to the Domestic Petroleum Operations Branch.

On the morning of May 22, the Domestic Petroleum Operations Branch (PVEP-POC) announced that a technical incident had occurred at the Song Doc oil field in the late afternoon of May 21.

The Song Doc oil field had already ceased production in February 2024 due to resource depletion and is currently undergoing decommissioning in line with the approved plan.

Immediately after the incident, an emergency response was swiftly implemented. Within approximately 30 minutes, the situation was fully contained and did not result in any environmental damage.

The incident has not affected the operations or production activities of other oil and gas projects.

PVEP-POC confirmed that the incident was successfully managed and that it is continuing to work with relevant parties to determine the cause.
