The Vietnam Poultry Association has submitted an official document to relevant authorities regarding baseless online rumors about fake egg production, which have caused chicken egg prices to plummet to just VND 1,200-1,300 (USD 0.047–0.051) per egg.

In a statement addressed to the Ministries of Public Security, Agriculture and Environment, Industry and Trade, and Science and Technology, the Vietnam Poultry Association emphasized that false information has been spreading across social media platforms, alleging that fake chicken eggs are being manufactured in Vietnam.
These rumors have sparked fear and confusion among consumers and have negatively impacted the domestic poultry egg industry.
The association reported that farmgate egg prices, which were already below production costs (meaning farmers were operating at a loss) at VND 1,400-1,500 (USD 0.055–0.059) per egg, have now dropped further to just VND 1,200-1,300 (USD 0.047–0.051) per egg.
As a result, production and distribution facilities are facing serious challenges in selling their eggs. Many businesses and households raising egg-laying hens are suffering severe financial losses, with some now on the brink of bankruptcy.
The association stressed that, globally, there is no scientific evidence supporting the production of counterfeit eggs that mimic natural chicken eggs. Furthermore, Vietnam has never recorded the presence of fake eggs on the market, either in the past or at present.
Therefore, it can be firmly concluded that the rumors circulating online about the production of fake chicken eggs are entirely fabricated.
The Vietnam Poultry Association urged relevant authorities to launch an investigation and take strict action against those spreading false information. These baseless rumors not only mislead consumers but also inflict serious harm on the livelihoods of poultry farmers.
