At the invitation of Lao General Secretary and President Thongloun Sisoulith, Vietnamese President Luong Cuong will pay a state visit to Laos from April 24 to 25. This marks his first official international mission of 2025 and his first visit to Laos as Head of State.

In recent years, the great friendship, special solidarity, and comprehensive cooperation between Vietnam and Laos have continued to flourish. These ties have been strengthened through frequent high-level visits and exchanges across various levels.

During past meetings, top leaders of both nations consistently affirmed their commitment to deepening political trust, enhancing security and defense cooperation, and ensuring public order and safety.

Vietnam and Laos are working to boost economic, trade, and investment ties, with a joint target of reaching 5 billion USD in bilateral trade turnover. Both sides are also pushing for the effective implementation of major Vietnamese projects in Laos.

Beyond economics, the two countries aim to intensify comprehensive economic connectivity - especially in infrastructure, transportation, investment, and tourism - and promote cooperation in education and training, culture, science and technology, and people-to-people exchanges.
