On the afternoon of June 6, the Economic Police Department of Ho Chi Minh City Police worked in conjunction with Phong Phu Commune Police (Binh Chanh District), the Department of Health, and other relevant agencies to investigate and verify the origin and route of a substantial quantity of Western pharmaceuticals and dietary supplements discovered discarded in a suburban area.
Authorities are currently reviewing footage from security cameras across several nearby roads to identify the individuals and vehicles involved in dumping the pharmaceuticals and supplements at multiple locations along Nguyen Van Linh Street in Phong Phu Commune, Binh Chanh District.
Earlier the same morning, residents discovered numerous discarded packages of medicine and supplements on vacant land along Nguyen Van Linh Street. Upon receiving the report, Phong Phu Commune officials were dispatched to the scene to secure the area and inform higher authorities.
According to authorities, the dumped items were mainly dietary supplements such as liver tonics, brain boosters, digestive aids, DHA supplements for children, multivitamins for children and pregnant women, and a limited quantity of pharmaceutical drugs.
An inspection of the packaging showed that the products remain within their expiration dates, valid through 2026 to 2028.
The packaging includes not only Vietnamese but also English, Korean, and Japanese labeling. Some items indicate they were manufactured in factories based in Hanoi and Thanh Hoa.
Local residents reported seeing motorized tricycles entering and leaving the area at around 4 to 5 a.m. over the past two days. While they couldn’t confirm the cargo, it is suspected these vehicles were used to dump the medicines and supplements.
