In the second quarter, motorcycle sales totaled 611,236 units, up 1.34 percent from the same period last (603,127 units). However, compared to the first quarter, sales dropped by 9.2 percent (61,819 products).

Cumulatively, for the first half of 2025, sales of major motorcycle brands in Vietnam reached 1,284,291 units, up 6.4 percent from the same period in 2024.

Meanwhile, according to the General Statistics Office, Ministry of Finance, the total number of new motorcycles manufactured in the first half of 2025 was 1.568 million, a 6.3 percent increase compared to the same period last year. Thus, compared to sales, manufacturers had an inventory surplus of approximately 284,000 units.

Due to the abundant supply, the motorcycle market in Vietnam is experiencing a clear trend of price reductions. In July, major dealers in Hanoi and HCMC reduced prices by hundreds of thousands to millions of VND for popular models such as Vision, SH Mode, Winner X, Grande, and Exciter to boost summer demand.

Some hot models are seeing significant discounts. The standard Yamaha Grande dropped by about VND2 million, from VND46 million to VND44.2 million; Honda Vario 160 had the largest discount among Honda scooters, selling VND6 million below the suggested price, at VND45.6–50.5 million compared to VND52–56.5 million.

This is an opportune time for buyers, with abundant stock, significant discounts, and a reduced registration fee (from 5 percent to 2 percent), further lowering the cost of ownership.

At some HEADs, the standard Vision model is being offered at VND31.2 million (listed price: VND31.69 million); the premium version at VND32 million (manufacturer's price: VND33.39 million); the special edition at VND35.5 million (listed price: VND34.79 million); and the sport version at VND39 million (listed price: VND37.09 million).

This is the deepest price reduction for the Honda Vision since the beginning of the year.

Among manual motorcycle products, popular models like Wave Alpha, Wave RSX, and Blade are discounted up to VND1 million.

The standard Winner X is priced between VND28–32 million depending on the color, which is VND17.8–18.16 million lower than the manufacturer's listed price of VND46.16 million. The special and sport editions are priced between VND32–35 million, up to VND18 million below the manufacturer's price. Additionally, dealers are offering a VND2 million cash discount for groups of two customers purchasing together, along with a gift package worth up to VND500,000.

Besides Honda, most Yamaha models in early July are also being sold by dealers at prices VND300,000–4 million below the suggested retail prices.

VAMM includes five members: Honda Vietnam, Piaggio Vietnam, Suzuki, SYM Vietnam, and Yamaha. In 2024, total motorcycle sales reached 2,653,607 units, a 5.46 percent increase compared to 2023.
