On April 29, the General Department of Customs reported that Nguyen Tien Dat (born 1989, residing in Doc Cao, Quang Tien Commune, Thai Hoa Town, Nghe An Province) had been caught smuggling over 4.2 kilograms of MDMA, a synthetic drug, through air cargo.

On April 14, at the NCTS cargo warehouse located at Noi Bai International Airport, the Customs Sub-Department of Noi Bai International Airport (Zone I) coordinated with the Hanoi Police Department's Anti-Drug Crime Investigation Division to carry out an inspection. Using professional methods, they uncovered Dat’s violation.

Authorities opened the package and discovered the drugs concealed inside cylindrical white plastic containers labeled "altapharma," with the MDMA tablets disguised as blue pills.

The case has now been transferred by airport customs authorities to the Hanoi Police Department’s Drug Crime Investigation Division for further investigation and legal processing.
