On July 16, social media in Da Nang circulated a video showing a resident uncovering maggots writhing inside a hamburger recently purchased from a store located on Nguyen Van Thoai Street, An Hai Ward, Da Nang.
The post, accompanied by the video, was captioned: “Bought a sandwich this morning and found this rich ‘topping’ crawling around,” along with an image of the partially eaten hamburger. The clip clearly shows at least two maggots crawling near a slice of tomato inside the sandwich.

Speaking to VietNamNet, Ms. T., the person who recorded the video, confirmed that she had purchased the hamburger that morning from a B.H. branded store on Nguyen Van Thoai Street. After nearly finishing the beef-filled burger, she discovered multiple maggots inside and immediately filmed the evidence to report the incident. Upon receiving the complaint, local authorities in An Hai Ward arrived at the shop to conduct an on-site inspection.
A ward official stated that their initial inspection included checking business licenses, food safety certifications, ingredient sources, food preparation areas, and stored food samples.
“This establishment was issued a food safety certificate in April of this year,” the official noted.

A representative of the B.H. store chain confirmed they had received the customer’s complaint and were conducting a full review of their food preparation process. The store is also reviewing surveillance footage to investigate further. They are reaching out to the customer to collect the food sample and determine the cause of the incident.
The store representative insisted that all ingredients are freshly sourced every morning and that no leftover food is used from the previous day.
