Vietnam is set to make a groundbreaking entry into the 'low-emission' rice market in Japan, with its first export shipment in June.
Leading domestic and international scientists exchanged views on how to use data gathered from a research project that surveyed 10,000 rice farmers across twelve Mekong Delta provinces between 2022 and 2024.
Vietnam is a pioneer in low-emission rice farming, she said, adding that many people around the world are eager to visit the country to learn from this model.

Completing harvesting recently, many farmers in Can Tho City have been offered cash bonuses for growing low-emission rice in accordance with the ‘one must, five reductions’ cultivation package.
A Thai company has agreed to buy carbon credits from rice farmers in Dak Lak province at $20 per credit, which is double the price paid by the World Bank under the "1 million hectare high-quality rice" program in Mekong Delta.
