
VNG has officially appointed Kelly Yin Hon Wong as the company’s new Chief Executive Officer, effective from May 20. The announcement was made public by the company on the morning of May 21. Mr. Wong will serve as CEO for the 2025–2030 term.
A Canadian national, Mr. Wong first arrived in Vietnam in 2004 and joined VNG in 2019 as Deputy CEO and General Director of VNGGames.
Under his leadership, the company’s gaming division - VNG’s oldest and most critical business segment - experienced substantial growth in both revenue and user base, contributing significantly to the company’s financial performance.
During his tenure, VNGGames aggressively pursued its Go Global strategy, opening new offices in Taipei and Shanghai, and establishing partnerships with leading international players. These moves solidified VNG’s position as one of Southeast Asia’s top game publishers.
Mr. Wong brings nearly two decades of experience across various sectors in Vietnam. He previously served as Deputy CEO of KIDO Group, Executive Chairman of Red Wok Investment (RWI), and Head of Corporate Advisory at Ho Chi Minh City Securities Corporation (HSC).
VNG Corporation also recently released its Q1 2025 financial report, recording net revenue of VND 2,232 billion (approx. USD 87.7 million) and a sharp rise in adjusted operating profit, reaching VND 185 billion (approx. USD 7.3 million). In the first quarter of 2025, the company continued to prioritize AI development, digital economy initiatives, and digital transformation acceleration.
