The upcoming iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max are rumored to include advanced new features, with recent leaks confirming at least one major hardware upgrade.
According to tipster Majin Bu, a photo shared on June 22 shows what is believed to be a vapor chamber cooling plate designed for the iPhone 17 Pro. If confirmed, these would be the first iPhones to utilize vapor chamber cooling, a method already popular among high-end Android smartphones like the Samsung Galaxy S25 Ultra.
The vapor chamber consists of a thin sealed metal plate containing a small amount of liquid. As the phone heats up, the liquid vaporizes, distributing heat across the chamber’s surface. The vapor then condenses and returns to its original state, creating a continuous cooling cycle. This system enables more efficient thermal management, particularly for heavy tasks like gaming, and could help maintain peak performance for Apple’s new A19 Pro chip.
While Majin Bu has a mixed track record with Apple leaks, he accurately predicted macOS-style menu bars in iPadOS 26. However, some of his previous claims - such as Stage Manager coming to iPhones - proved incorrect. At this stage, the origin of the leaked cooling component remains unverified.
Meanwhile, reports also suggest Apple will transition toward a true all-screen design over the next two iPhone generations. In his Power On newsletter dated June 22, Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman said that Apple plans to shrink the Dynamic Island next year, followed by a completely redesigned iPhone for its 20th anniversary in 2027.
Gurman claims the anniversary model will feature ultra-thin bezels, curved glass edges, and a seamless all-screen display - free of notches or cutouts. Supporting this, earlier reports by Wayne Ma of The Information indicated that the iPhone 18 Pro might include under-display Face ID and a single front-facing camera cutout, further reducing screen obstructions.
Despite slight discrepancies in the details, both sources suggest Apple is steadily advancing toward a truly bezel-less iPhone with fully integrated biometric and camera tech beneath the display.
Apple’s upcoming iPhone 17 lineup, expected this fall, will reportedly include the iPhone 17, iPhone 17 Pro, iPhone 17 Pro Max, and a new ultra-slim variant dubbed iPhone 17 Air.
