The iPhone 17 lineup, set to launch later this year, will receive two major display upgrades, according to a recent leak from Digital Chat Station – a prominent tech leaker based in China.

Slimmer bezels across all models

The first update reveals that the entire iPhone 17 series – including standard models like the iPhone 17 and iPhone 17 Air – will feature slimmer display bezels compared to their predecessors.

Previously, Apple announced that the iPhone 16 Pro and 16 Pro Max had the thinnest bezels ever seen on any of its devices. Now, this ultra-thin bezel design is expected to extend beyond the Pro models, reaching lower-tier versions as well.

This indicates a shift in Apple’s strategy to bring high-end design innovations to mainstream models more quickly. Thinner bezels promise a more immersive and modern visual experience, even for users who opt for non-Pro versions.

Additionally, thinner bezels make devices appear more premium and refined. If paired with lightweight materials like aluminum frames, they may also contribute to an overall reduction in device weight.

Redesigned Dynamic Island

The second upgrade involves the Dynamic Island – the pill-shaped interactive interface first introduced on the iPhone 14 Pro. According to the leak, the iPhone 17 will feature a redesigned Dynamic Island, although specific details remain scarce.

Some speculate that iOS 26 – expected to debut alongside the iPhone 17 – may introduce a completely revamped Dynamic Island, offering improved interactivity, new features, or enhanced visual effects.

From a hardware standpoint, there are rumors suggesting Apple is working on a smaller Dynamic Island cutout to maximize screen real estate.

However, leaks remain inconclusive as to whether this change will debut on the iPhone 17 or be delayed until the iPhone 18 next year.

If Apple does reduce the size of the Dynamic Island, users could benefit from increased screen space and a less obstructive interface – addressing a common complaint about previous models.

Digital Chat Station has built a reputation for accurate leaks about Apple products in the past. Still, like all unofficial reports, these claims should be viewed with cautious optimism.

Apple is known for its tight-lipped approach regarding unreleased devices, especially upcoming iPhones. However, with the iPhone 17 launch event likely slated for September as usual, users won’t have to wait long to see which features materialize.

If the leaks prove true, iPhone 17 will mark a key evolution in Apple’s display design: slimmer bezels extended across the full lineup and a redesigned Dynamic Island, both in software and possibly hardware.

While these upgrades may not be as headline-grabbing as breakthroughs in processing power or camera tech, they directly enhance everyday user experience - from touch interactions to overall visual appeal.

With these two refinements, Apple continues to unify its design language across the iPhone ecosystem and maintain its appeal in the increasingly competitive premium smartphone market.
