As of June 23, heavy and prolonged rainfall in Huu Lung district, Lang Son province, has caused severe flooding and landslides. According to Duong Thi Hanh, Chairwoman of the Huu Lung District People's Committee, water levels on the Trung and Thuong rivers and surrounding streams continue to rise rapidly.
Several roads and low-lying bridges have been submerged. As of 7:30 a.m. today, water levels on the Trung River reached Level 3 flood alert (2016mm).
The district has recorded 39 flood points and five landslides, and 41 households have been relocated. Additionally, 11 villages with 405 households have been completely cut off. Nearly 350 hectares of rice fields and crops are underwater.
Authorities have mobilized local forces to assist in clearing debris and maintaining access for residents. Submerged low-bridge crossings have been barricaded, with warning signs and round-the-clock on-site personnel to prevent any transit by vehicles. Emergency teams have also helped relocate affected families to safer areas.
To maintain temporary access in landslide-prone zones, warning signs have been installed and fallen trees and debris are being cleared. Road management units are on 24-hour standby to identify and address incidents as they occur. Machinery has been deployed for swift response if the situation worsens.
Despite the extensive flooding, there have been no reported casualties as of this writing.
