On the afternoon of July 22, the Vietnam Computerized Lottery Company (Vietlott) awarded the Jackpot 1 prize of the Power 6/55 lottery game to Mr. N.P., who was the lucky winner of this historic jackpot.
Mr. N.P. currently lives in Ho Chi Minh City and works as a freelance businessman.
He is a regular player of Vietlott’s lottery products, typically purchasing only 1–2 sets of numbers each day. When the jackpot amount climbs, he occasionally buys more, but never more than 5 sets of numbers at a time.
Mr. P shared that his habit is to keep his lottery tickets in his vehicle’s glove compartment and only check them the next day. On the night of July 12, he heard that someone had won the jackpot but didn’t immediately think to check his ticket.
It wasn’t until the following morning, when Vietlott announced the winner was from Ho Chi Minh City, that he took out his ticket to compare. Upon seeing the winning numbers matched his ticket, he initially felt numb with shock, followed by an indescribable emotion.
The winning ticket had the numbers: 02 - 34 - 39 - 41 - 45 - 52, and was generated randomly.
He said he couldn’t even eat lunch that day. Later that evening, after calming down and waiting for his wife to finish dinner, he finally told her the big news.
Regarding his plans for the jackpot, Mr. P said he will carefully consider how to use the money most effectively.
According to regulations, Mr. P is required to pay personal income tax in Ho Chi Minh City, where the ticket was issued. The tax amounts to approximately 34.5 billion VND (roughly $1.35 million USD), representing 10% of the prize amount exceeding 10 million VND, and it is deducted directly upon receiving the prize.
