The Department of Medical Service Administration has urgently requested the Director of Phu Tho Provincial Department of Health to swiftly direct relevant units to coordinate with law enforcement agencies in investigating and strictly handling the assault on a healthcare worker.

Speaking to reporters on April 28, Nguyen Trong Khoa, Deputy Director of the Department of Medical Service Administration (Ministry of Health), confirmed he had received reports from VietNamNet and other news outlets about a disturbing incident at Thanh Ba District Medical Center in Phu Tho Province, where a nurse was assaulted by a patient's relative during an emergency procedure.
According to Dr. Khoa, the incident disrupted security and order, negatively affecting patient care and the safety of healthcare workers. He described the assault as a "heinous act" that society must strongly condemn and which requires strict legal action.
On the afternoon of April 28, the Department issued an official dispatch requesting the Director of Phu Tho’s Department of Health to urgently coordinate with local law enforcement to thoroughly investigate and strictly handle the case.
Additionally, the Department stressed the need to enhance security measures at healthcare facilities, implementing surveillance and warning systems to prevent future incidents of disorder and ensuring compliance with the Law on Medical Examination and Treatment.
Department leaders also urged the Phu Tho health authorities to promptly support and care for the affected patients and medical staff both physically and mentally.
Previously, VietNamNet reported on the alarming case that sparked public outrage. During an emergency resuscitation effort for a child suffering anaphylactic shock, family members continuously cried, verbally abused staff, and even physically attacked a nurse, hindering the critical care process.
