In just two days, globally famous singer-songwriter-director-producer G-Dragon will perform at an event held at My Dinh National Stadium in Hanoi. This marks his second visit to Vietnam.

Beyond his illustrious music career and successful fashion ventures, G-Dragon wields enormous influence on social media, with over 8.4 million Facebook followers and 22.4 million on Instagram.

The music festival featuring G-Dragon is expected to welcome 40,000 attendees, with 20 different ticket tiers available.

G-Dragon's appearance and the presence of other well-known performers have prompted a surge in bookings from both domestic and international fans. Many guesthouses and hotels near My Dinh Stadium are reporting high occupancy rates for the night of June 21, the date of the performance.

Online booking platforms show that room rates for June 21 are notably higher than other dates in June.

Some upscale hotels within a 5-kilometer radius of the stadium have only a few rooms left, with several already fully booked for that night. More rooms remain available in budget accommodations and one- to three-star hotels.

A representative from Movenpick Living West Hanoi in Cau Giay District shared that occupancy rates for June 20 and 21 have reached 86% and 89%, respectively, with a notable influx of guests from China and South Korea. “These are impressive numbers for June,” the representative noted.

To celebrate the concert featuring G-Dragon, the hotel launched a promotional campaign offering gifts to guests who book rooms between June 19 and 22.

Reyna Hotel Hanoi also reported full bookings for its 170 guest rooms across its two branches in Me Tri and Mieu Dam on June 21, and near full occupancy on June 20. This hotel primarily caters to international guests.

A representative from A25 Hotel - Your House said their Le Duc Tho location, with 38 rooms, had only one room left for the night of June 21.

"Since early June, the hotel launched a promotion where guests who book rooms here had a chance to win a VIP K-Star Spark ticket worth up to VND 10 million (approx. USD 390). The campaign has been well-received, especially among young customers," the representative shared.

However, hotel representatives also noted that the excitement surrounding G-Dragon’s performance doesn’t quite match the frenzy created by BlackPink’s concerts in Hanoi in July 2023.

The K-pop girl group’s concerts from July 29 to 30, 2023, sparked a major tourism boom, attracting a wave of local and international visitors to the capital.

According to the Hanoi Department of Tourism, in July 2023, the city welcomed an estimated 2.38 million visitors, up 21.4% year-on-year and 7.3% from June 2023.

A significant portion of these were international travelers from South Korea, China, Singapore, and other countries, many of whom combined concert attendance with sightseeing and culinary exploration.

Vietnam has increasingly become a favored destination for international artists to host large-scale music events. These concerts consistently draw massive crowds of fans from around the world, especially younger audiences.

Such events present valuable opportunities for travel services, including accommodation, dining, souvenir shopping, and tourism, to benefit from increased demand.

G-Dragon, born Kwon Ji-yong on August 18, 1988, is a South Korean rapper, singer-songwriter, record producer, and fashion icon.
