South Koreans and Vietnamese business leaders face prosecution for organizing illegal gambling operations in Hanoi.

This is a large-scale trans-national organised crime ring operating with sophisticated methods, notably introducing a new method that has appeared for the first time in Vietnam using artificial intelligence (AI) technology to commit the crimes.

The Criminal Police Department of Vietnam’s Ministry of Public Security has coordinated with the Lao Ministry of Public Security to bust a high-tech, organized transnational gambling network with operations stretching across borders and cyberspace.

Using encrypted messaging and digital payments, the gambling syndicate operated across Thai Binh, Hai Duong, and Hanoi.

Vietnamese police have dismantled a massive gambling ring in Lao Cai, arresting 97 people, including two Chinese ringleaders. Authorities seized VND 720 billion ($28 million) in gambling assets.
