According to initial reports, at around 3:30 PM on April 28, a serious traffic accident occurred on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway when a semi-truck crashed into the bridge barrier and fell onto the ground below.

The truck, carrying a foreign license plate, was traveling on the Noi Bai - Lao Cai Expressway heading from Yen Bai to Lao Cai. When it reached Km262+200 (located in Duyen Hai Ward, Lao Cai City, Lao Cai Province), it suddenly struck the bridge barrier and plunged into the empty space below.

The collision severely damaged the vehicle. Onboard were three people: Nguyen Kim C. (36 years old, residing in Lao Cai), Nguyen Thi V. (36 years old, residing in Lao Cai), and Chen X. (54 years old), all of whom sustained injuries. Locals and emergency services quickly transported the injured to Lao Cai Provincial General Hospital for treatment.

Authorities from the Highway Traffic Police Team No. 1 (Department of Traffic Police, Ministry of Public Security) were dispatched to the scene to coordinate with Duyen Hai Ward Police and Lao Cai Provincial Police in handling the accident.

The incident is currently under investigation to determine the cause.
